In what ways do you find daily inspiration? For me, aside from reading and playing audio books over my wireless speaker while at home, or Bluetooth when I’m in the car, I have taken the utmost interest in listening to audio podcasts. Not just any podcast though. I’ve found a few series that are hosted by smart and influential women who deliver uplifting words of inspiration, knowledge, and wisdom right to my living room.

Each time I listen to an episode, there’s a whole lot of “yes girl” and “I know right?” happening–even though I’m the only physical being in the room. These storytellers are my virtual girlfriends. My neighbors are probably wondering who in the world I’m talking to.
Now, there are a few essential qualities I search for in a podcast which determines if I’ll hit the subscribe button or not. Personally, I listen to them as a form of self-help, therefore the podcast must be relatable. I like to take the information I’m hearing and apply it to my life in some way. I mean, other than being entertained, that’s the primary point of tuning in, right? While the age of the host is of no particular concern to me, what does matter is the effectiveness and delivery of the message. Also, any host with a great personality is a huge plus!
In the past month or so, I’ve added quite a few podcasts to my Apple library. I get pretty excited when notifications pop up that new episodes are available. I know you want some of this excitement too, so let me share my favorite six podcasts with you:
What it’s about: The podcast, Support is Sexy features women from around the world who discuss both the positive and negative aspects of entrepreneurship. Here you’ll find inspiration and tips for starting and operating a successful business.
What I like about it: The focus of this podcast is women supporting women, which I believe is a vital piece of “making it” as an entrepreneur. I especially love that many of the featured guests are from diverse backgrounds. Also, the messages in each episode are always clear and the relevant. Oh, and Elayne has the most beautiful voice!
What it’s about: Hosted by two good friends who both have successful careers; this self-help podcast is where you’ll learn about rebranding and redefining midlife.
What I like about it: Sherri and Nancy address a variety of topics that women in middle age face at one time or another. I love how they embrace self-love and the realness of being you.
What it’s about: You can listen in twice a week to Dr. Riday as she discusses women rediscovering themselves. Many times as women, we lose ourselves after having a child or getting married. This series touches on topics all women face at different stages in life from learning how to deal with difficult people to coping with mom guilt. Here, you can listen to tips on how to balance life and nurture relationships.
What I like about it: There are quite a variety of topics here which means I won’t get bored. I can scroll through the episodes and find just about anything I may be dealing with personally.
What it’s about: If you are longing to be inspired and empowered as well as find ways to elevate your life, business, and friendships, then this podcast is for you. Lori discusses physical and mental health issues and gives tips on how to really tap into becoming your best self.
What I like about it: One of my favorite episodes is 212: How to BUILD A TRIBE that Takes You to the Next Level. This is just an upbeat, energizing podcast. I’m always left feeling like I can achieve anything.
What it’s about: This is a brand new podcast that launched a few weeks ago. Listeners will hear tips concerning breaking free from fear and finding the confidence to conquer dreams. Ruth also talks about how to pick yourself up and keep pushing after failure and life’s disappointments.
What I like about it: I’ve been following Ruth for about a year now, as I find her story inspiring. I have also read a few of her books and even enrolled in her infamous blogging course, Elite Blog Academy. So when she announced that she was starting a podcast, I was super excited. Each episode stresses the importance of continuing to pursue your goals, especially in those times you feel defeated.
What it’s about: Ultimate girl time! This is a podcast that focuses heavily on self-care, healing, and learning to love. The phenomenal women featured in these episodes are all at different phases of life and speak candidly about their successes as well as their struggles.
What I like about it: First of all, I just love Alex Elle. Her journey is one of strength and perseverance. This is an uplifting podcast and is an extension of what I get from her amazing Instagram page.
Check out one of these podcasts or even all of them. You’ll be happy you did.
All the best, always.
